Native American Grants

If you are looking for Native American Grants there are several places to start looking, but first there are several things that you need to know.

What You Need to Know About Native American Grants

One thing that you need to know about Native American grants and scholarships is that it is not just enough to claim that you are Native American in order to receive these monies; you must also be able to prove that you are Native American.

Proving that you are Native American can be a bit tricky.  Of course if you have tribal membership it is easy enough.  But if you do not have tribal membership it is a matter of knowing the name of the ancestor you had who was Native American as well as his or her tribal affiliation.   You must be able to find their name on a roll from the tribe in order to verify ancestry.  If you know you have Native American blood but are not sure of the tribe you can actually narrow it down by getting a DNA test which can point you to the right blood relative group or groups.
