Is there any kid that doesn’t like McDonald’s food? Well now McDonalds has something even tastier to offer and that is a number of scholarships and grants for those who are looking for a way to help defray the costs of their college education.
The McDonalds Corporation is one of the most well-known fast food franchise out there, but they are so much more than a simple eating establishment. The McDonalds Corporation also prides itself on taking a serious interest in their community. One of the ways that they express their interest is in providing their employees, their employee’s children and exceptional community children with scholarships to help defray the costs of furthering their education. Another way that they demonstrate this interest is in the establishment of Ronald McDonald Houses.
Ronald McDonald Houses are homes away from home for families who have children being treated at major children’s hospitals and medical centers. These homes give families an affordable (and sometime’s free) place to stay within close proximity to where their child is being treated. The reasoning behind this is that the medical procedures these children are going through and the cost to the families is high enough without having to worry about being able to afford a hotel or motel while the child is undergoing treatment.
About McDonalds Scholarships
McDonald’s Scholarships come in one of three types. First, there are the scholarships that are made available to McDonalds’ employees. Employees must have worked for the company for a specified length of time and must show specific levels of academic achievement as well as community service. Then there are the scholarships that are made available to the children of McDonalds’ employees. Again, specific eligibility requirements apply and the students must demonstrate specific levels of academic achievement, financial need and a dedication to community service in order to qualify. About McDonalds Grants
In addition to the scholarships that McDonalds provides for their employees, their employees’ children and exceptional children in their local communities, McDonalds also provides educational grants for those who work with children in the health care system. These grants (which are provided through the Ronald McDonald House part of the organization) are specifically designed to help healthcare professionals who work with exceptional and special needs children in continuing their education so that they can provide more exceptional service to their communities.
Those who would apply for these grants must meet specific eligibility requirements and must go through a rigorous application and selection process, but the amounts awarded are well worth the work necessary to complete the application process.
