What is a Google Grant?
From the beginning, Google Grants has been used to support those organizations that have a view of the community that includes service in the areas of science, technology, global public health, education, the arts, environmental concerns as well as youth advocacy, all of which are very important to the health of the community and as such they are also very important to Google who is, after all, here to serve the community.
Currently these grants, which are awarded in the amount of free advertising for the organizations in question, go to over 6,000 organizations. These institutions and organizations are a representative cross section of the very best of what nonprofit and charitable organizations have to offer. But you may be curious as to how exactly the program works.
How Do Google Grants Work?
Google grants are really quite simple. A specific amount of money for advertising through AdWords is given to each of those who qualify. These ads show up on Google when users are creating searches and looking for websites that have to do with the product or service they are looking for. This gets your organization noticed by a far greater number of people than it would ordinarily be able to see it or be aware of it.
The Google AdWords team takes your add with your selected keywords and phrases. These are used to create an add that will be seen whenever users type in those particular keywords or phrases. People who see your add are more likely to click on your website for more information, which means that you have a better chance of having your organization’s ideas and concepts heard.
These grants can be worth up to $10,000 per month (depending on the grant amount given). And while the performance of the add will be entirely dependent on the accuracy and placement of the keywords and phrases (and how often people choose to click on them). But it can do wonders for your organizations efforts to get its site seen and its cause recognized.
Who is Eligible for Google Grants?
Google has specific requirements for who qualifies for Google Grants. Specifically they need to be nonprofit organizations. If it is found that the organization does not meet the requirements the advertising funding will be pulled.
